A manual of Islamic beliefs and practice volume 1
This book "A manual by Islamic beliefs and practice" is written by Ali Muhammed Naqvi and Kalbe Sadiq Naqvi. This book is the first of two volumes on the religious practice of the Twelver Shĩ'is. The purpose in compiling these works is to provide a comprehensive treatment of all aspects of the practical spirituality of this Islamic school, in such a way as to provide a guide and a reference for those who follow the way of the twelve Imams, peace be upon them. This first volume covers the theology, the ethics, and the law, while the second volume will contain a selection of the most widely used items in Shiate devotional iterature. While every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the information given in the present volume, it must be stressed that it is only meant as a guide. The compiler and editor have followed the legal precepts of Ayatulläh al-Uzmā Sayyid Abu -Qāsim al- Khu'i, but their compilation does not have the force of law and is in no way a substitute for A yatulläh al-Khu'T's Tawdīh al-Masa'il, which must be consulted whenever his followers need to ensure that the sharra is being correctly caried out. Followers of other marja's must consult the corresponding Risālas. This book is based in part on Tuhfat al-Awwām (in Urdu), but several other works have been consulted, in particular, Mafātih al- Jinān, Hilyat al-Muttaqīn, and Kitäb al- "Agā'id. The compiler's original text has been considerably shortened, so as to provide readers with a concise and portable volume. An appendix contains further suras of the Qur'an which are not given in the text, but to which it may be useful to refer.
