Al-Tawḥeed is an esteemed work authored by the revered early Shia scholar Sheikh al Sadiq, who was one of the greatest Shi'a hadith scholars of the 4th/10th century the most prominent hadith scholar and faqih of the hadith school of Qom. Up to 300 scholarly works have been attributed to him, most of which are not extant today. He has compiled the Man la yahduruh al-faqih, one of the Four Books of the Shi'a. This work explores an array of theological themes concerning God's nature and the relationship between God and the Creation. In this book Sheikh al-Ṣadūq has uniquely drawn from the Ḥadiths— the reported sayings of the Prophet (s) and the Imams (as)— to grapple with profound subjects such as God's Oneness, the deep meaning of verses of Quran, the nature of the Quran, the nature of God’s attributes and the impact of revelation. This approach highlights the notable, yet often overlooked, role that the Ḥadīths of the Imams have played in shaping early Muslim theology.
