Mujtahid-e-Nazm Mirza Dabeer
Mujtahid-e-Nazm Mirza Dabeer by Dr. Syed Taqi Abidi is a scholarly study that presents Mirza Dabeer as an innovative and authoritative figure in Urdu marsiya poetry. The book examines Dabeer’s creative intellect, technical mastery, and original approach to poetic composition, justifying the title Mujtahid-e-Nazm (an independent thinker in poetry). Dr. Abidi analyzes Dabeer’s command over language, meter, imagery, and narrative construction, especially in his depiction of Karbala. The study highlights how Dabeer expanded the expressive and structural boundaries of marsiya, shaping its classical form. This work is valuable for understanding Dabeer’s lasting influence on Urdu literature and marsiya tradition.
