
Muslim In Crimea
In this book Muslim present in Crimea dates back to the middle of the 15th century is explained. They were an important Muslim community in a strategic area situated between Europe and Asia with the rise of communism in the beginning of the 20th century. Crimean were subjugated by the Russian and the Muslim community of Crimea was persecuted and crushed, efforts were made to disperse the Crimea Muslims in different parts of the Soviet Union. They were deprived of their ancestral homes, families were dividend, mosques demolished, properties confiscated, libraries closed down, all this continued for several decades. The author thanks Dr ayatollah kopanski head of our area studies unit for paying attention to a forgotten chapter of the history of Islam in Crimea.
