The book is about the Ismailis community , their Imams are called Fatimids because they traced their genealogy to the Prophet Muhammad's daughter Fatima.They are called Ismailis named after the sixth Imam Ismail ( the eldest son of the Shi'a Imam Jafer all Sadiq).This book contains the history of intellectual and learning traditions under the Fatimid rule. The period of Fatimids caliphs (909-1171) ,descriptively described in this book, is marked as a climax in the history of Ismailis. The author discusses the political, literary, economic, artistic and scientific achievements of the Fatimid Caliphs and the empire that they established as far as India and western Europe.
