As Yazid comes to the throne, thousands of people from Kofa write letters to Imam Hussain (AS), inviting him to come to the city. Imam Hussain sends Muslim Ibn-e-Aqil to Kofa as his ambassador to examine the state of affairs. In Kofa, around 18,000 people pledge their allegiance to Muslim. But soon they all leave Muslim alone after Ibn-e-Ziyad, who is made governor of Kofa by Yazid, threatened them with death. Later, Ibn-e-Ziyad sends his army to arrest Hazrat Muslim, who fights with valour and kills many. At last, he is arrested with a false promise and later martyred.
