The victory of Islam under Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) completely shatters the power of Ummayads who then accept Islam to save their lives. Now, they try to attack Islam from within. After the death of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), they find ways to consolidate their power in Syria. They flout Quran’s injunctions and largely pervert the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Muawiya, the great grandson of Ummayah, engages in a bloody war with Imam Ali (AS). After Muawiyah’s death, his son Yazid asks his governor in Madinah to obtain oath of allegiance from Imam Hussain (AS). Imam Hussain firmly refuses and leaves Madina. He is surrounded by Yazid’s forces on way to Kofa and martyred along with his companions.
