When Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) takes his son Hazrat Ismail (AS) for slaughtering, as ordered by Allah in his dream, Allah saves Hazrat Ismail and in his place a sheep is slaughtered. In Quran, Allah says he has accepted this sacrifice of Ibrahim and replaced it with a great sacrifice. Allah also says he has made Ibrahim the Imam of people. Imam Hussain (AS), the grandson of last Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) who is among the descendants of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS), gives the great sacrifice in Karbala where he, his children, close relatives and loyal companions are martyred by the oppressive forces of Yazid.
